Dariya and Seth dreamed of an iconic Venice elopement, a grand adventure that moved through the city’s most romantic locations. They wanted to feel like the stars of their own classic film, and our role was to build the set and let their story unfold.
A Ceremony Steeped in History
Their story began at the Hotel Luna Baglioni, just steps from Piazza San Marco. After getting ready separately, they met for a first look before we moved to the ceremony at the Chiesa di San Giorgio dei Greci, the historic heart of the Greek Orthodox community in Venice. The air inside is thick with history, the scent of old stone and incense hanging beneath the rich, golden Byzantine mosaics. It is a place that feels important. As they exchanged vows and were crowned, the moment felt both deeply personal and part of a long, sacred tradition.
A Grand Tour of Venice
Exiting the church into the bright Venetian air, they were greeted by a shower of rose petals and the sound of classical musicians we had arranged just for them. It was a perfect, cinematic moment. From there, the day became a private tour. A waiting gondola took them through the quiet back canals, the only sound the gentle lapping of water against ancient walls.
We then switched to a private water taxi, our key to navigating the city for portraits. We designed a timeline that allowed them to experience the city’s icons without feeling rushed. We found shelter from the sun under the endless arches of the Procuratie Vecchie in Piazza San Marco, captured a dramatic portrait on the grand steps of Santa Maria della Salute, and let them have their moment among the pigeons in the main square.
A Private Dinner on the Grand Canal
The day ended back at their hotel, on a private terrace overlooking the Grand Canal. As the sun set, they danced and enjoyed a fine dining experience for two, the lights of the city coming alive around them. It was the perfect end to a day that was both a grand tour and an intimate celebration.
Our Favorite Moment
For us, the real art of a day like this happens behind the scenes. Coordinating the moments after the ceremony was a complex and rewarding challenge. We had the classical musicians ready to play the second Dariya and Seth stepped out of the church, their favorite piece filling the small campo. At the same time, we ensured the gondolier was waiting at the nearest canal, ready to depart the moment the music ended.
This careful choreography of people and transport is what turns a series of logistical steps into a single, flowing experience for the couple. They didn’t have to think or worry; they just had to walk out of the church and into their celebration.
