Different types of elopement in Tuscany
Most couples we speak to are choosing between four kinds of place.
Countryside Hotel
Villa di Piazzano, Castello di Banfi and Monteverdi Tuscany are countryside hotels and estates. You get married in the grounds, and the day stays on the property. At Piazzano and Monteverdi two nights there are included, so you don’t need to go anywhere else.
Winery
Argiano Dimore and Castello di Banfi are wine estates near Montalcino. You get married in a private spot on the estate and take your photographs around it, and at Argiano two nights in a suite are included. Both are working wineries with hotel guests, so the rest of the estate stays open.
Small Country House
Lupaia and Podere il Tesoro are small country houses, and the day is quiet and close. You get married at the house, and a private dinner there is part of the package. At Podere il Tesoro you also stay the night in the estate’s private annex.
Private Estate
Villa di Geggiano and Villa Valentini Bonaparte are private historic estates, and Castello di Celsa is a private castle in the Siena countryside. None of them is open to the public, so the garden is yours for the ceremony and the photographs. At Valentini Bonaparte a night in a suite and a private dinner are included, and elopements there are on weekdays only. Castello di Celsa does not usually allow elopements, and we are the only planners who can arrange one there.

What is not included
Your flights are not included.
Dinner isn’t included unless your venue’s package already has it, but we arrange dinners for couples all the time, so just tell us if you’d like one.
Some packages include nights at the venue. Any nights beyond those aren’t included.
The extras you add in the Package Builder, such as a videographer or a legal ceremony, aren’t in the starting price either.
Can we bring guests?
The prices are for the two of you. In most cases you can add a few other guests. You stay on the same package, and the price may slightly increase to cover them. If you’d like more people with you, from about 8 to 30, that’s a small wedding. We put together a quote for each one, and our small wedding in Italy page explains how we plan them.
A symbolic ceremony, or a legal one
Most couples have a symbolic ceremony at their venue and complete the legal marriage at home. We can also arrange a legal ceremony in Italy. It needs more paperwork and more time, and the town hall fees are separate.
Example Tuscany Elopement Timeline
Every day is planned around your venue, but this is how a typical afternoon runs, timed for the best light.
- 2:30 pm: Your photographer meets you where you are getting ready, at the venue or at your hotel.
- 3:00 pm: Photos of your dress, rings, and the other details you want remembered.
- 3:45 pm: Getting-ready portraits.
- 5:00 pm: The ceremony, in your private space.
- 5:30 pm: Photographs at the venue.
- 6:30 pm: The photography ends. Some packages include dinner at the venue. If yours doesn’t and you’d like one, we will arrange it.
