Venice in February has a life of its own. The light is crisp, the air is cool, and the city’s energy is palpable. For Kelly and Fred, the dream was to experience that iconic beauty while creating a private world just for two. They found it behind the grand doors of Aman Venice, a palatial escape set within the historic Palazzo Papadopoli on the Grand Canal.

This was a day built around timeless elegance. It began with quiet anticipation. Kelly prepared with her mother and brother, while Fred adjusted his black tie, the picture of classic style. The entire celebration was designed to be deeply personal and completely relaxed, allowing them to be fully present with each other.

A Private Ceremony on the Grand Canal
The ceremony took place in one of the palazzo’s magnificent palatial rooms. With soaring ceilings and frescoed walls, the space felt both grand and deeply intimate. Through the tall windows, gondolas drifted past on the Grand Canal, a silent movie playing in the background. The air filled with the sound of a string trio as Kelly walked toward Fred, surrounded by the soft glow of candles and elegant white orchids.

It was a moment of pure romance, made possible by the privacy of the palazzo. We believe a ceremony should be the emotional heart of the day, and for Kelly and Fred, it was a beautiful, personal exchange of vows written just for them.
Portraits in a Palace
After the ceremony, we explored the hotel for their portraits. Aman Venice is a photographer’s dream. With public areas thoughtfully designed by Jean-Michel Gathy, every corner offers a composition of light and history.

We used the dramatic main staircase and quiet, art-filled salons. Because the hotel has only 24 rooms, it never feels crowded. Kelly and Fred had the space to themselves, allowing them to relax and connect while we created their heirloom images.
An Iconic Water Taxi Adventure
No Venice elopement is complete without a trip on the water. We arranged for a private water taxi to take them on a tour of the Grand Canal. We work with a trusted captain who knows how to navigate the waters to find the quietest spots for photos, even with iconic backdrops like Piazza San Marco. It’s this insider knowledge that makes a huge difference. For a few moments, Kelly and Fred were part of the city’s beautiful landscape before retreating back to their private world.

An Intimate Celebration
Returning to the hotel, the celebration continued in the library with Prosecco and cake cutting. Later, they returned to the ceremony room, which had been completely changed into a private dining space for two. It was the perfect end to a day that was all about them: grand in its beauty but intimate in its feeling.

Our Favorite Moment
There was a moment when they stepped off the water taxi and back into the quiet calm of the Palazzo Papadopoli. They left the energy of the Grand Canal behind and entered their own private sanctuary. In that moment, you could see the whole story of their day: the perfect balance of iconic Italian adventure and quiet, personal romance.

It’s our job to create that balance, and seeing them relax back into their private celebration was proof that we had built the day perfectly for them.
